The Peacock Room

The incubation period for the eggs of peahens lasts from 28 to 30 days. These birds should be allowed to incubate their own eggs. A broody turkey hen might also be used as a foster mother. Both peahens and turkeys are good mothers.

If peafowl live in a coop, so the coop should be well-lighted and sheltered. The young peafowl should be kept with the mother during the first week of life. The peachicks can be released to come and go during the second week of life.
