The Congo peafowl birds are not much larger than standard size chickens. The males of these birds are crested, but they don’t have real trains. As a rule the males are dark green, and females are mostly light brown.

The Congo peafowl has been domesticated to a very limited degree. There are only few successfully kept and breed birds of this species in zoos.
